Rhizome short- to medium-creeping. Fronds with rachis and rachillas glabrous or with sparse to moderately dense hairs and scales; upper pinnule surface glabrous, lower surface glabrous or with very sparse hairs. Spores large or small, 16 or 32 per sporangium. Distribution and occurrence: Widespread, throughout N.S.W.; all other States, Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, New Caledonia, New Zealand. Grows in arid and non-arid areas, in exposed rocky habitats, in rock crevices or shelter of rocks, sometimes in open woodlands
