The thick oblong leaves blend in well and are most noticeable when new reddish leaves appear, although then on Cassine, they are camouflaged by the orange-red fruit. Can be eaten out by the lava of the Common Jezebel butterfly (Delias nigrina). Fruit are popular with the Mistletoe Bird which then helps spread the seeds to another location.
